Credolab and Begini Partner to Enrich Alternative Credit Assessment and Bridge Gaps in Data Visibility, Accessibility, and Evaluation.
One data source alone is no longer enough to tell every applicant's story
Singapore and UK (3 November 2026) – Credolab and Begini partner to offer lenders a broader view of creditworthiness by combining two independent yet complementary approaches to behavioural credit assessment.
The hardest borrowers to assess are often the ones lenders know the least about. Solving this problem requires looking beyond traditional credit data, and any single source of alternative data.
Today, 1.4 billion adults still remain unbanked, while billions more are considered "underbanked" or "credit invisible". Recent industry studies also show that traditional data alone fails to score between 20% and 49% of applicants, presenting a severe limitation for traditional credit models trying to assess modern consumer needs.
However, integrating alternative data, including alternative credit and behavioural data, changes the economics of risk management. It has been shown to increase predictive power by up to 45% and can decrease default losses by up to 50%.
Credolab adds a layer of privacy-consented behavioural intelligence, embedded within mobile and web application journeys, leveraging device and behavioural signals to power real-time credit risk assessment. Without using a single byte of personal data.
Begini provides an active psychometric credit assessment that generates first-party behavioural data directly from the applicant, independent of their existing digital footprint. This allows lenders to assess customers across digital, branch, agent, shared-device and link-based lending journeys.
With both approaches, lenders gain greater flexibility to extend behavioural credit assessment and approve more customers. Depending on the lending journey and available data, Credolab and Begini behavioural scores can be used independently within the lender's credit policy.
Peter Barcak, Founder and CEO of Credolab, said:
“Alternative data is most powerful when lenders can use the right signals for the right customer and journey. Together, Begini and Credolab can extend the range of applicants and lending journeys that can benefit from behavioural credit assessment.”
James Hume, CEO of Begini, said:
“There is a strong natural fit between Credolab and Begini. We are both using behavioural data to help lenders make better decisions where traditional credit data alone does not tell the whole story, but we approach that challenge in complementary ways. Together, we can help lenders bring behavioural insight into more customer journeys and reach more people who are difficult to assess using conventional data.”
The partnership builds on both companies' work with banks, fintechs and lenders seeking to improve credit assessment for thin-file, new-to-credit and underserved customers.
